Since the Accelerator was announced in early 2021, more than 1,000 businesses have completed the online content, and more than 115 restaurateurs from 6 cities have completed the Accelerator through local cohorts guided by some of the industry’s most recognized entrepreneurs and chefs. These local cohorts participants represent a diverse cohort of restaurateurs and business owners.
"Support from DoorDash came at just the right time. Like many other small businesses, our operations were turned upside down at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic … Putting the business education and skills we learned in the Accelerator curriculum into practice, we’re back on our feet."–Waleed and Quiana Shamsid-Deen, owners of Supreme Burger in Atlantic, GA and former Accelerator participants. After completing the curriculum and receiving a $20,000 grant, Waleed and Quiana opened two more food trucks and another storefront.
Previous cohorts were comprised of 90% people of color and the vast majority of participants were also women, immigrants, and refugees.
The DoorDash Accelerator for Local Restaurants online curriculum is open to all restaurant owners at no cost. Business owners can complete the courses at their own pace, with content and topics designed to address some of the core challenges they face when trying to grow and scale their business.
